Hot, hot, hot

How did people survive before the invention of air conditioning? Was it easier because your body was more acclimated to the heat as you transitioned from spring to summer? Was the temperature cooler 100 years ago without all the cars and asphalt?

I am melting. Today was the third full day without air conditioning and my brain cells are melting. I will try to remember to appreciate our air conditioner more once it's fixed!

I'll trade you! It's been just over 100 here, which means 85+ in the apartment with no AC. :P Yuck!

I'll bet it was just as hot as now--but people might not have been inside where it's stuffy. And they probably had things to do to keep them busy--they couldn't focus on the heat so much.

Hope you can get cooled down soon!

Our 3 week heat wave (and counting) has reminded me to appreciate AC. We have to set it in the 70s so that by the heat of the day, it will be at least 82 in the house.
