The picture is the pillowcase I finished this afternoon. They're matching, so I saw no need to set up the other and take a picture. ;)
I bought this fabric years ago, I think while I was still in high school. My plan was to sew two pillowcases for my brother, as he was obsessed with using chili peppers to decorate his bedroom. I don't know why I waited so long to start these, but hopefully he still likes them. If not, he will at least appreciate the humor in his old decorating taste.
If I have the time tomorrow, I'm going to hand wash the fabric for my grandpa's quilt. Then I can start cutting out all the squares I will be sewing together.

What a great money-saving talent you are developing. I've been pricing sheets sets lately- WOW! Needless to say, I came home without a new sheet set. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Ann! Hubby was suggesting I try making a sheet set but I'm too chicken to tackle something that big. :) The pillowcases are fun!
It has been fun knowing how to make pillowcases. I have made winter scene ones for 3 families and Christmas ones for several more. For my own house we have rose blossom, pumpkin, and santa ones. The other day I opened a new package of ivory flannel sheets and I am keeping the sheets, but I have cut up the pillowcases for my friend to use in her Hazel's Diary quilt along! I won't miss them at all with all my decorative pillowcases.

I hadn't thought about using fabric from store bought pillowcases for a quilt. That's an interesting idea!
